UNDERSTANDING YOUR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE'S RESPONSIBILITIES

The Executive Committee is a seven (7) member executive council appointed strictly by the International Assembly to serve in conjunction with the International Overseer in the day to day functions of administrative duties only. They have no power to deal with doctrinal issues, only the International Assembly can do that. Presently they serve as the Finance Committee, the Questions and Subjects Committee, the Counseling Committee, the Ministerial Review Committee and the World Mission Committee to assist the International Overseer in these areas of responsibility. Each member is to serve this committee for a maximum of seven (7) years and then they drop off and the Assembly appoints a replacement. This is done in order to maintain a level of continuity and at the same time provide a term limit to prevent conflicts regarding seniority and power. The Assembly remains the Highest Tribunal of Authority as it is led by the Holy Ghost guidance through its interpretation of the Word of God (Holy Bible). According to our "Business Acts" and other Assembly approved guidelines, the Executive Committee will have no authority to appoint or expel the International Overseer nor shall the International Overseer have the authority to appoint or remove a member of the Executive Committee. For this form of "Theocracy" to work the International Assembly must fill the office of Executive Committee and the office of International Overseer so that there is a check and balance in case of illness or an infraction against God's Government. The power of the Executive Committee has been completely misunderstood by some of our precious people on the field because it in no way supersedes the International Assembly (formerly called "General Assembly" and thus the Assembly will maintain its proper place in our form of government. Please read carefully the document entitled, "OUR GOVERNMENT EXPLAINED" The Assembly appoints the Executive Committee and they are to never be appointed by the International Overseer or the system will not work for The Church of God and its best interest. The Executive Committee may ask for guidelines to be approved by the International Assembly for their members to serve on this committee but they are to never appoint their own members and neither may they appoint the International Overseer but certain Assembly Approved Guidelines could be adopted for eligible candidates for the office of the International Overseer as well because it is the Assembly that makes this appointment. This appointment requires an acclamation by the International Assembly before anyone can fill this office and it will come up in the 2009 International Assembly for a person to fill this office. The International Overseer is now being appointed during each International Assembly.

Acclamation: 1. an acclaiming or being acclaimed 2. loud applause or strong approval

3. a vote by voice; esp. an enthusiastic approving vote without an actual count (elected by acclamation)

NOTE: This is the same process used by the General Assembly until the 10th Assembly of 1914.
